HAAC continues to build on our partnerships for policy and research agenda. We continue to run programs in Cape Breton and Halifax.
Mental Health Forum in November
We will host our first annual mental forum in November of this year. We will host the first annual African Nova Scotian Mental Health & Addictions Initiative Conference on November 27th and 28th, 2014.

One of our cochairs, Donna Smith, is part of a research team that has recently published an article on Spirituality at the End of Life within the Black community.
Two-day Symposium in Cape Breton
Our first symposium focusing on the promotion and awareness of issues that affect seniors daily in our community was held in Cape Breton at the Menelik Hall Whitney Pier May 2nd & 3rd 2014.
Some participants attended both days while some were only able to attend day 2. Discussion topics included: Dental Care, Foot Care, Extended Care, Naturopathic Medicine, Healthy Eating, Aerus Healthy Home Air Purification, Cancer Resources, VON, Hospice Care, Understanding Your Medication and Wills/Power of Attorney.
