The Children First – Action for the Health and Wellbeing of Our Children Online Panel Event was held on Thursday April 24 from 6:30 – 8:30pm.

The partnership event was led and facilitated by the Health Association of African Canadians (HAAC) and the Association of Black Social Workers (ABSW) Black Health and Wellness Initiative Co-Managers, Sharon Davis-Murdoch and Veronica Marsman and Dr. David Haase.

The panel professionals included social worker Lana MacLean, educator, Karen Hudson, pediatrician, Dr. Upton Allen and public health nurse, Angela Harper. Each panelist shared their professional observations about Black children’s health and wellbeing in a format of community conversation.

Topics covered included:

  • Major health and well being issues affecting Black Children
  • How best to protect our children who face anti-Black racism and health inequities and;
  • Up to date information on preventable childhood disease and childhood vaccines.
